Gibson introduces the Flying V guitar. The final episode of the Monkees TV show airs on NBC in the US. In December. Elvis Presley's comeback special airs on NBC. Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass have four albums simultaneously in the US Top Ten. The Beatles perform their last official concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. NBC has a hit TV show with The Monkees, featuring the comedic exploits of a "Beatlesque" pop group. In April, for the first time since January 1964, the US Top Ten does not have a UK band in it.
