Going beyond the predictable means generating a future that was not going to happen anyway. To create a future that was not going to happen anyway, an individual has to go beyond what they already know or have done before. Jono Brent and Marc Pringle of In Your Corner (IYC) talk with guests about circumstances that have shaped them, and how they used these as catalysts for growth. We unpack what going beyond their predictable looks like for them, and learn how we can all shift who we are, what we know, and what we do to create an extraordinary future that goes beyond our predictable. 4l243u

I Thought I Couldn’t Learn Because of My Dyslexia... And Then I Made a Career Out of It
I Thought I Couldn’t Learn Because of My Dyslexia... And Then I Made a Career Out of It
Introducing our friend and colleague Bryan Stronach as the next guest on the In Your Corner Podcast, Going Beyond the Predictable. Bryan’s middle name should be learning. His deep understanding of the learning process has enabled many great things in his career - including seeing New Zealand Cricket through its most successful period in history as the GM High Performance. We sat down to talk with Bryan about the experiences that shaped him before the age of 20, and how he went beyond what was predictable for this self proclaimed “regular Joe”. We hope you enjoy it! --- Don't forget to follow us to be notified about future episodes. Exploring My Past to Transform My Future with Lee Gardiner
Exploring My Past to Transform My Future with Lee Gardiner
When dreaming up our podcast, this next guest was one of the first people to come to mind. A courageous leader, mother and friend, Lee Gardiner (Ngāti Tūwharetoa) embodies what it means to go beyond the predictable. One to never back down from a challenge, Lee is well known for her tenacity, and it is no surprise that where Lee goes, people follow.     Lee talked with us about her childhood experiences (from as young as the age of three) and how these have shaped her. We discovered where she gets her drive (if you know Lee, you have probably wondered this yourself) and discussed her experience connecting with her whakapapa as an adult after being raised in a Pākehā world.    This was a special conversation. Thank you, Lee, for sharing your story.   Don't forget to Follow us on Spotify to be notified when future episodes are released.    Visit our website: https://www.inyourcorner.co.nz/  LinkedIn: https://nz.linkedin.com/company/in-your-corner-co-nz

Stepping Beyond the Fear with Dame Noeline Taurua
Stepping Beyond the Fear with Dame Noeline Taurua
We are fortunate to have the powerhouse, Dame Noeline Taurua, as the first guest on our podcast. Dame Noeline (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whātua) became the Silver Ferns Coach in 2018. In just 11 months, she led the Silver Ferns from a medal-less finish at the 2018 Commonwealth Games to world champions at the2019 Netball World Cup. During this period, she balanced dual roles as head coach of both the Silver Ferns and Sunshine Coast Lightning. In the 2020 New Year Honours, Noeline was appointed a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to netball.  While Noeline’s coaching success and many accolades are highly impressive - if youlistened to our first podcast, you will know that we aren't here to talk to our guests about their achievements. Instead, our aim is to discover what they had to confront and who they had to become in order to generate a future beyond the predictable.   We talked to Noeline about: Stepping forward and speaking up despite the natural tendency to withdraw Her childhood experiences and identity and how these show up today Going from looking for the perfect 'recipe' for how to coach to understanding who she is and creating her own style Committing without knowing how - like starting a franchise sports team from scratch in a new country. Connecting to possibility when the outcome isn't clear Her advice on going beyond your predictable   Stick around for a short reflection at the end on what we learned from the conversation.   And lastly - a note from Noeline: "While I am guilty of not mentioning my family much in the podcast, they are my rocks, and couldn't have achieved any of this without them."   We hope you enjoy it! We can generate from a burning ambition or run from a burning platform
We can generate from a burning ambition or run from a burning platform
Throughout this podcast series, hosts Jono Brent and Marc Pringle will be asking guests to confront who they are, so it is only fair they start with themselves. Hear from In Your Corner (IYC) Co-Founders Jono and Marc on facing their predictable future and what they did to generate a more compelling one. Jono and Marc talk stepping off the corporate ladder and into the unknown world of In Your Corner, tackling wellbeing, running ultra marathons, and much more. --- About IYC: IYC is a team of strategic advisors, leadership coaches, and consultants who individuals, teams, and whole organisations to create a future that goes beyond their predictable. We do this by using human centred design thinking to help people confront and then transcend who they are (their ‘being’), what they know (‘knowing’), and how they operate (‘doing’) all in service of generating a future that is compelling to them.
