Though not covered as much in surveys of US history, the migration to the southwest of the new country was an important part of policy in the Washington istration. In this episode we journey from Virginia to the west in what will become Kentucky in short order. Like it’s northwest counterpart, relations with the British and Native Americans play a significant role. The Spanish also re-emerge on the scene and, unfortunately the custom of slavery moves with emigres from Virginia and Georgia.
