First Featured Femme - Author 2j2q3d

Welcome back! The femmes are getting started with their new format with a truly incredible woman.  Author, Editor, Mother, Professor, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Homecoming Queen, Trailblazer, among other things. “I regret everything.” "It's not profound regret," ... "It's just a wiping up of tiny little messes that you didn't recognize as mess when they were going on."  The woman the femmes are talking about today is an accomplished author who paved the way for women (specifically black women) and to hear or read this can be a little shocking. As the femmes through this episode, they want to highlight the accomplishments of this person as well as look at the struggles and stumbling blocks that she had along the way. This looks so different for everyone. Sometimes a stumbling block that one person has is simply their skin color - From her early life and struggles with racism to her time she spent as an editor at random house, this woman is an important part of history. Her works (in which the first one was published when she was 39) are something to be respected and appreciates.
